Hey Everyone, Some tips from IFYC for this holiday season! What makes food "interfaith-friendly"? The holiday season is filled with food - potlucks, celebratory meals, and all the snacks... And as interfaith leaders, we want to make sure everyone feels comfortable at the table - literally! So this holiday season, take some time to make sure your food contributions are interfaith-friendly. Read on for a few tips. ‱ Pay attention to your protein. Dietary practices of some traditions require meat to be prepared in a special way. Other traditions eat some kinds of meat & fish, but not others. And still others don't eat meat or fish at all. If you've got a diverse group of people coming, think about going vegetarian. ‱ Label, label, label! Make sure you mark what your dish includes: meat type, dairy, gluten, nuts, and any alcohol used in cooking. ‱ Remember that not all dietary practices are restrictive. Just as turkey and stuffing are often seen as "Thanksgiving dishes," some foods hold special meaning and are symbolic in different traditions. ‱ Do your research. Who's coming to your gathering? What are the food practices of their traditions? If you don't know, err on the side of inclusivity

My team and I are known as the "Fun Team." Why? We oversee everything from nation-wide holiday parties (hence the ugly sweater) and community partnerships to recognition programs and internal communications. This week's been a busy one but, of course, a fun one! You might know Allegiant as an airline but we're so much more. I'm fortunate to work for a company with great people who appreciate what I do... the fun stuff! It's awesome to do something I enjoy but also something I believe in. // Thanks @chapmances for the M.A.!

Last night, we played “Jeopardy” at the Argyros Forum Student Union. I competed against Dean Jerry Price and the student finalists Tessa Lepore and Tansu Philip. I’m pleased to announce that I won for the second year in a row. Sorry for the bragging, but as a long time Jeopardy fan, this is a pretty heady stuff, at least for me. But the really big, big news is that Tansu Philip tried out for College Jeopardy. I’m pleased to announce that Tansu made it in the initial test and interview part. Now she’s waiting to hear whether she’ll become a contestant. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed. My recurring dream is that one of our students is on Jeopardy wearing a Chapman sweatshirt and beats the one wearing a USC shirt. Wouldn’t that be sweet!!!! JLD Left to right: Tessa, Dean Jerry Price, yours truly and Tansu.
