So proud to have been a part of @chapmanu's Clotheslines Project. Here's a bit about the project: Chapman University’s Clothesline Project began in 1995. Since that time, we have collected 700+ shirts that have been made by students, staff, and faculty members. Our Clothesline differs from the original Project in a few ways: • We have included boys and men in our project. More male survivors of sexual abuse are coming forward. Generally, the perpetrator of male sexual violence is also male. • We have also included advocacy shirts for members of the community to send a message of solidarity that speaks out against ALL violent behavior. The History of Clothesline “The Clothesline Project is a national project that serves as a visual depiction of violence against women, bearing witness to this epidemic in our communities. The project consists of color-coded shirts created by survivors and/or significant others who have directly and personally experienced the effects of sexual violence. Established in 1990 by the Cape Cod women’s Agenda in Hyannis, MA, the Clothesline Project has four stated goals: 1. To bear witness to the survivors and to ‘remember’ those who have died as a result of violence against women. 2. To help with the healing process for those who have directly and personally been affected by violence against women. 3. To educate, document, and raise society’s awareness of the extent of the problem of violence against women. 4. To provide a nationwide network of support, encouragement, and information for other communities starting their own Clothesline Project.” I would also suggest adding #TheGirlWhoFell by @shannonparkerwrites to your tbr list as it explores issues relating to this project. #ConsentGetSome #ItsOnUs
