Hey Panthers! Hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend! My name is Laura Claypool, and I am pursuing a B.A. in PR&Ad, with a minor in Digital Imaging and Design. I'm from Bellevue, WA and just finished my freshman year at Chapman! I love being busy and couldn't wait to get involved on campus, so I quickly joined several organizations including Colleges Against Cancer, University Program Board, and Greek life. Can't wait to show y'all some highlights from #MyLifeAtCU! ~Laura Claypool '19 #ChapmanU #pantherpride

It's Thursday already! Hard to believe that tomorrow is the Closing Convocation for graduation! Not sure where the time went... This photo shows a group of men, who I am proud to call my brothers. Coming to college four years ago, I had absolutely no intention of joining a fraternity and would have laughed if someone told me that one day I'd be the president of one. The men of Delta Tau Delta and all other Greek chapters at Chapman have done an extraordinary job of defying Greek Life stereotypes, helping the community, and doing philanthropic work. I am proud to be a member of that community and it has shaped and greatly enhanced my college career! -Lijah #MyLifeAtCU #ChapmanU #deltataudelta

Happy Wednesday! We're finally passing the hump of the week! This last week, I presented my my capstone research project at the Student Faculty Research Expo. I have had the opportunity to work 5 semesters under the mentorship of Dr. Marco Bisoffi studying prostate cancer. The 3 other people in this photo have been my friends since day one at Chapman! We were all neighbors in Henley Hall and taking intro-level biology courses. Now we are graduating and and can tell you all about detecting organic materials in E-Cigarette vapor, expression of important molecules in prostate cancer, and clinical methods of detecting hemoglobin (respectfully). Thank you Chapman for the hands-on experience and knowledge outside the classroom! -Lijah #MyLifeAtCU #ChapmanU

Happy Tuesday Panthers! I hope finals are going well! This picture takes me back two years ago to an AMAZING experience. Through the club on Chapman's campus, Global Medical Brigades, I have had the opportunity to go to both Nicaragua and Ghana on medical service trips. This photo was taken during the Ghana brigade, where we fundraised for medicine and supplies all year and then took it to rural villages with doctors. The people in these rural community have no access to any form of healthcare! I met a 65 year old man who had never seen a doctor in his life. This photo holds dear to my heart because I am pictured with my friend Isaac. Isaac was one of the children in the village and followed me at all times and had the biggest heart! These trips have only solidified my aspirations to pursue a career in medicine. I am so thankful that being a Chapman student has given me opportunities such as this one! -Lijah #MyLifeAtCU #ChapmanU #CaptureCU

Happy Monday, Panthers, families, and friends! My name is Lijah Vann Gardner and I'll be running this account for the week! I'm a senior (class of 2016), but not for much longer because I'll be joining the ranks of alumni by the end of the week...! Can't believe the last four years have happened so fast! I'm a biological sciences major and minor in psychology. I have been fortunate enough to have met such a diverse group of people through the different campus groups I interact with on a regular basis. To help me achieve my goal of a career in medicine, I have involved myself in Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honors Society, American Medical Student Association, Global Medical Brigades, and on-campus student/faculty research. To balance my academic career with a social life, where all members are grounded in similar values, I thank Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. I also am able to serve my community regularly by being a member of Chapman C.A.R.E.S.(Creating A Rape-free Environment for Students). Here I'm able to help plan and run events centered in sexual assault prevention and educate student groups on this topic. I have been so fortunate to have chosen Chapman and I'm reminded of that every single day! Looking forward to sharing my experience with you this week! -Lijah #MyLifeAtCU #ChapmanU #CaptureCU #PantherPride #cuonelasttime

I definitely couldnt get through college without my best friends as my support system, so heres three of them! Its been a great week, and a great four years, but it looks like its time for my last post and my last finals week. I just wanted to re-emphasize that Chapman is great because of the different people that you meet, and Im lucky to have met so many people who made my time here so memorable and taught me valuable things. Like many, I've had ups and downs throughout college...but we'll all be fine as long as we remember that we fall so we can learn to pick ourselves back up (And here I thought I could get through the entire week without a Batman reference...). Thanks for following #MyLifeAtCU everyone, be sure to follow my personal account @soggzpls Its been a blast but I have a few tests and papers left before becoming a Chapman Alumnus so off I go! Tuesday nights at Chapman mean its training day for me! Ive always been a fan of Boxing and UFC (also, Rocky Balboa is a personal hero of mine..) and one day I finally bought a pair of gloves and decided to teach myself. Literally days after I did, I stumbled upon this table that said "Chapman Martial Arts Club" and picked up a flier. After my first training session, I was hooked (get it? Okay sorry). After a few months I now feel great about boxing, im looking to train at a gym after graduation, and Ive made some awesome friends from different martial arts backgrounds that helped me through the basics! Check out Chapman Martial Arts Club on Facebook and Orgysnc and come punch things with me and my friends! 👊🏽 - Sagar Kamnani #MyLifeAtCU #ChapmanU #capturecu #MartialArts #Boxing

I got to report on the weather today for @chapmannews ☔️, our weekly newscast that goes live every Friday at noon throughout OC, LA, and YouTube. Through my major in Television Broadcast Journalism, I've been able to learn every aspect of producing a television piece: learning how to direct, write, shoot, edit, you name it. Chapman has an extremely hands on program which I love and fully take advantage of. ✌🏻️The best part is taking the skills I learn in class and applying it to the real world. I HIGHLY recommend students to pursue internships in their field, because you will truly then find and get the feel of how the industry works and what exactly it is that you want to do. I have had the privilege to intern at places like Seacrest Studios, iHeartMedia, TMZ, and CBS, and through my path and experiences I have learned and grown so much personally and professionally. Shoutout to Chapman for the internship and LA hookups, which will hopefully help me find a job once I graduate! 🙏🏻🐾 #MyLifeAtCU #ChapmanU #CaptureCU

TRAVELLING ✈️. It's one of my favorite things to do. As someone on google quotes once said, "Travelling is the only thing you spend money on that makes you richer". I'm so thankful that during my time at Chapman I was able to study abroad in London, England for 6 months and explore the land of the fish & chips. 🇬🇧 "Why do you want to study abroad? Aren't you already like, studying abroad?" - my answer to the question multiple people asked me before I went to England: WHY NOT? 🎉 i highly recommend, if you are able to, study abroad for a semester, do a summer or winter travel course, or take a gap year or break and travel. You learn so much about yourself and others, in fun and stressful situations. You learn how to be independent and an adult in a new, different and exciting country. I learned so much about different cultures, the FOOD IS AMAZING, the drinks are great, and the people are just unbelievable. My favorite thing to do in London was to take the tube over to central London, walk around a new park, and get lost in the different streets and neighborhoods. Every spot has a story behind it, and the houses, restaurants, and people you see and meet are all diverse and full of culture. #ThrowbackThursday to London 2014! #MyLifeAtCU #ChapmanU

Yep, that's right, I'm from Brazil. 🇧🇷 I am one of hundreds of international students at Chapman that come from over 88 countries including China, India, Saudi Arabia, UK, etc. Many people don't know this, but Chapman has representatives (shoutout to Marcela!) that travel around the world recruiting students at college fairs to attend Chapman. I had never heard of Chapman before until I went to one of these fairs in my city and got to know a little bit about the school-and the rest is history. 🎓 Coming to Chapman as an international student is very different and sometimes hard: I am about 6,120 miles away from home. I moved from another country with two suitcases and two carry ons two start a new life in the unknown. My dad helped me move in and the next day had to fly back to Brazil. I was alone in this new environment, knowing no one and trying to figure out where to fit in for the next 4 years. Little did I know that Chapman was a school filled with amazing people that really create a welcoming environment for us international students. 🐾🙏🏻 something that I find hilarious and love is that no one believes me when I say I am Brazilian. 🇧🇷 They always say things like "But then why is your English so good?" Or "but you don't look Brazilian!" And I love these questions, because it shows how diverse Chapman can be without people even realizing it. Through my last 4 years here at this school I have learned that Chapman overflows with diversity, and 9 times out 10 it is the diversity WITHIN rather than on the outside. Diversity doesn't have to be limited to skin color or how you talk, but to where you've lived, your story and life experiences, where you're from, and what makes you, YOU. 🎉 that's why I love Chapman. At first, it was really hard for me to come to a new country, make new friends, and try to fit in with this new culture. But Orientation week and the students and staff at Chapman did an amazing job at welcoming me, and now I am beyond proud to be a Panther, 🐾 and thankful to share #MyLifeAtCU #ChapmanU #CaptureCU

Coming to college as a freshman or a transfer can be scary, specially if you don't know anyone and/or are new to the area. That's why orientation week is SUPER important, and in my humble opinion, Chapman puts on the BEST orientation week for new students. 🎓 Honestly, being an Orientation Leader has been a major highlight of my Chapman career. I did it for 3 years and have met the most incredible group of people that helped me grow in so many ways into the person I am today. 🙏🏻 and to be honest, O-Week is a huge PARTY. 🎉 I love being able to show the new students around our beautiful campus, dance and go crazy with them at Playfair and at UPB nights, and just sharing a meal and getting to know the new Panthers is such an amazing experience. I mean, as an Orientation Leader I am the first face they meet at Chapman, and being able to welcome them to their new home for the next 4 years is an honor and so. much. fun. 🐾🎉👌🏼🔑 Stay tuned for tomorrow I will go more in depth why coming to Chapman and being welcomed has meant so much to me personally. #ChapmanU #CaptureCU #MylifeatCU

Grace Lee Boggs once wrote, "You cannot change any society unless you take responsibility for it, unless you see yourself as belonging to it and responsible for changing it." This spring, I had the privilege of attending Chapman's annual Social Justice Retreat. Every moment was a shattering epiphany. I experienced the power of an individual in action. I saw passion. I saw hope. I saw belief in the eyes of young hearts. Through this experience, I found that to change the world, we need not to turn away from it, but to face it with wide eyes and courageous hearts. There is injustice, yes. There are moments of pain and weakness. But we need not be discouraged, for it's a chance to be a change for a changing world. Chapman's mission to equip students with an understanding of the world was certainly seen here. Happy Tuesday, Chapman! I love you! Till tomorrow--Helen Garcia #chapmanu #MyLifeAtCU # #pantherpride

I worked in the caf for almost 2 years. Wanna know how I got the gig? As a freshman I used to bake treats and bring them to Karen (everyone's favorite sandwich lady) she told me it would be fun for me to come in one day & bake cookies with the staff. So one day I went in to meet the Executive Chef to schedule a day to come in & after our conversation he looks at me and says "you're hired". So I walked out of there with a chefs coat & a job!! I would have NEVER DREAMED I would be working in a commercial style kitchen as a pastry chef my first year in school, but boy am I grateful for the opportunity!! I have learned so much and formed so many valuable relationships with the people that made all my food during my time living in the dorms. Making 300-400 desserts at once was a new challenge & a bit overwhelming at times, but it didn't compare to the joy I got seeing the students faces light up when they ran into the caf, straight to the bakery to see what delicious treat I whipped up for the day. I can't wait to get back baking! Until then, check out my YouTube channel where I post quick step by step videos of my favorite baked goods. The full recipes can be found on my blog!
